For CAs & accountants
Tally on Cloud for CAs and accounting practices
A practice that keeps client Tally data on a cloud server stops passing backup files between the office, staff laptops and clients. Airmax Tally Cloud runs your licensed TallyPrime on a managed server: you and your staff open the same client companies from the office, from home or from a client's premises over an OTP-protected Remote Desktop session, and the data is backed up every day. Airmax is an independent hosting provider; this is not a service of ICAI or of Tally Solutions.
Stop sending backup files every day
In many practices the working copy of a client's books moves around: a backup is taken at the office, carried home on a pen drive or sent over email, worked on, and restored again the next morning. Somewhere along the way two people enter vouchers into two copies, and someone spends an hour working out which one is right.
With the data on a cloud server there is only one copy of each company. Whoever is working — at the office, at home or at a client's premises during audit season — opens that copy. Nothing needs to be carried, restored or merged.
How it works for a practice
- Client companies sit on one managed server. A single Tally login on the cloud can hold several companies, all opening from the same sign-in.
- Each member of staff gets their own login, protected by a one-time password at every sign-in — so access is personal and can be withdrawn.
- Staff work from the office, from home or on site, on Windows, a Mac, or a tablet for reviewing reports.
- Invoices and reports print to the printer next to whoever is working, through cloud printing.
- TDL customisations you rely on are installed on the server and load as they do on a local machine.
Before and after
| Local copies | On Airmax Tally Cloud | |
|---|---|---|
| Where client data lives | Office PC, staff laptops, pen drives, email | One copy per company, on the cloud server |
| Working from home | Take a backup home, restore it, bring it back | Sign in and work on the live company |
| Two people on one client | Two copies to reconcile | Both work on the same data |
| A staff member leaves | Copies may leave with them | Their login is withdrawn; no data was on their laptop |
| Backups | Whenever someone remembers | Daily and automatic, plus your own copy to Google Drive or OneDrive |
Confidentiality and control
Client data never has to live on a staff laptop, so a lost or stolen device does not expose anyone's books. Every sign-in needs a one-time password, the server sits in a data centre behind multi-layer firewalls, and sessions are encrypted. The full picture — including what the cloud layer does not cover — is on the Tally Cloud security and backup page.
One thing stays with you: access control inside Tally. If a login is given rights to a company in Tally, the cloud layer will not second-guess that, so set up Tally users and company access the way you would on a local network.
GST, returns and year-end work
GST reports, returns preparation and year-end work in TallyPrime behave exactly as they do locally — the software is the same; only the machine it runs on has changed. The GST portal and other government sites are opened from the device you are working on, as they are today.
Licensing: check this first
Airmax provides the server and the access layer, not the Tally licence. Before moving client companies, confirm that the Tally licence you will use on the server covers the way you work — for example, how many people need to be in Tally at the same time. If you are not sure, raise it during the demo and we will go through it with you before anything is migrated.
